Hello there! My name is Lauren Prentis. I am currently enrolled in the doctoral program of Biochemistry and Structural Biology (BSB) at Stony Brook University. I am working in Dr. Robert Rizzo's group (Rizzo Research Group) in the Dept. of Applied Math and Statistics. We are also affiliated with the Laufer Center for Physics and Quantitative Biology. Ongoing research in the Rizzo group is focused on structure-based computational drug discovery for diseases including HIV/AIDS, breast cancer, botulism and Ebola using molecular modeling approaches such as virtual screening, de novo design, and molecular dynamics simulations. We are one of the developers of a well-established docking program DOCK6 that can effectively predict and evaluate binding geometries of small molecules in the binding pocket of a protein.
